The
Ladies Auxiliary
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Brandywine Summit Camp Meeting
was formed with a purpose to assist the Board of Trustees by coordinating
and overseeing different projects that benefit our community. We support
the Camp Meeting through both "sweat equity" and financial
gifts, endeavoring to honor Jesus Christ in all that we do.
Membership in the Ladies Auxiliary is open to all cottagers
and friends of the Camp Meeting. Annual dues are $6 per person.
Men are welcome as members but do not vote.
The Auxiliary operates
through
an Executive
Board whose officials are elected annually and hold three year terms.
Monthly meetings are held on the second Saturday during Camp Season. The current slate of officers through 2009 are:

We understand that with today's busy lifestyles, eveyone
has limited time and many committments. We strive to remain sensitive
to our members, our ministry, our charter, and our changing times.
God
gives us beauty and serenity, and opportunities to appreciate them at
Camp Meeting through times of both refreshment and service. Our potential
is unlimited. Our common ground as sisters and brothers in the Body
of Christ brings us to work together. It is our prayer that all in the
Brandywine Summit Camp Meeting community will work and laugh together
as we serve Him.
Please consider joining the Ladies Auxiliary and becoming
a member of our team. We offer unlimited opportunities to use the gifts
and talents that God has given you. We are flexible and would welcome
working with
you.
Listed below are some
of the special events and regular activities that we sponsor. You may contact
any member for further information. We also encourage you to attend any
of
our monthly
meetings.
Special Events
Ladies Auxiliary Tea
The Tea is usually held on the third Saturday in May
in Biddle Hall. It
is our annual membership drive and fundraising event, and serves
as a kick-off to the Camp Meeting season. Invitations are sent to all
cottagers
and friends of the Camp
Meeting.
Auxiliary members make this a successful
and delicious event by bringing their choices of appetizers and desserts.
This is a relaxing time to renew old friendships and forge new ones,
while enjoying great food in an elegant yet comfortable atmosphere.
Faith Fellowship Day
This day offers both spiritual and nourishing food, hosted
by the Ladies Auxiliary. A worship service with special programming is
held in the Tabernacle. This is followed by a light luncheon in Biddle
Hall at a cost of $3.50 per person.
Holiday Picnics
Cottagers and friends alike anticipate a full day of fellowship
and fun on Memorial Day and July 4th—including a picnic at 1 pm. These
picnics are co-sponsored with the Board of Trustees, who provide the
main course. Cottagers are asked to bring a side dish sufficient enought
to feed eight. Volunteers from the Ladies Auxiliary provide paper products,
beverages, and handle the setup/cleanup chores.
Sunday Fellowship Dinners
These buffet style meals are held in Biddle
Hall on the Sundays of our Christian Fellowship Weekends. Cottagers
are asked to bring a side dish sufficient enought to feed eight. Volunteers
from the Ladies Auxiliary provide the main meat course, paper products,
beverages, and handle the setup/cleanup chores.
Regular Events and Services
Saturday
Covered Dish Dinners
These family style buffet meals are a favorite long-standing
Camp Meeting tradition. They are held Saturdays at 5 pm in Biddle Hall
during the season, except when pre-empted by special events as listed
in the season program.
Cottagers, visitors, and friends alike all are
welcome. Attendees are asked to bring a main course, side dish, or dessert,
sufficient to feed eight or more people. The cost is $2.00 per adult
($4 if you do not bring a dish) and $1.50 per child aged 4-12. There is
no charge for those under age 4.
Volunteers from the Ladies Auxiliary handle
the setup/cleanup; provide beverages, bread, utensiles, and paper products;
and clean the room and kitchen facilities. Sign-up sheets are posted in
Biddle Hall for volunteers to handle each dinner. This is a great way
for friends to be of service and, as extra inducement, the volunteers
get first pick of the desserts!
Corner
Store
This store is located behind
the Tabernacle, next to the Collins Building. It is open after Tabernacle
services or at other announced special times. The store is operated by
the Ladies Auxiliary and offers ice cream treats, gifts, handicrafts,
drinks, and other treats.
Rental
Cottage Care
The Ladies Auxiliary handles housekeeping for
rental cottages owned by the Camp Meeting. Volunteers take care
of cleaning, laundry, and furnishings to ensure our renters and special
visitors have a great expeience while staying on grounds.
